Los Muermos is a city and a commune. This means it is both a town where people live and an area managed by a local government. It is found in the Los Lagos Region of Chile. This region is known for its beautiful lakes and green landscapes.
How Many People Live Here?
In 2002, a count of the population was done. This is called a census. Los Muermos had 16,964 people living there. More men lived there (8,939) than women (8,025).
Most people in Los Muermos live in rural areas. About 11,257 people lived in the countryside. Only 5,707 people lived in the urban areas, which are the more built-up parts of the city. The total population changed only a little between 1992 and 2002.

How Los Muermos is Governed
