Anna Charlotte "Lotta" Engberg (born Pedersen) is a famous Swedish singer. She was born on March 5, 1963. Lotta is well-known for her pop and schlager music. She has been performing since 1980.

Lotta Engberg represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1987. She sang the song "Boogaloo". She won Melodifestivalen 1987 to get there. Melodifestivalen is Sweden's big music contest. She also tried to win Melodifestivalen many other times. This was in 1984, 1988, 1990, 1996, 2002, and 2012.

She has been part of several music groups. These include "Trioala" and two dansbands. A dansband is a Swedish band that plays dance music. These bands were Lotta & Anders Engbergs orkester and Lotta Engbergs. She now performs as a solo artist. In 1999, Sweden even put her picture on a postage stamp! Early Career and Music Groups

Lotta Engberg started her music journey early. She made her TV debut in 1980. She was only 17 years old then. The show was called "Nygammalt" on Sveriges Television. She was also a member of an a cappella choir named Trioala. An a cappella choir sings without instruments. Later, she became a regular singer in the TV program's choir.

Lotta married Anders Engberg. She started using his last name in her music. She also became the main singer for the dansband Lotta & Anders Engbergs orkester. This band was active until 1994. That is when Lotta and Anders divorced.

Lotta Engberg is famous for her many attempts in Melodifestivalen. She finally won in 1987. Her winning song was "Fyra bugg & en Coca Cola". For the Eurovision contest, the song's name was changed to "Boogaloo". She then represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1987.

She tried to win Melodifestivalen several other times:

Lotta & Anders Engbergs Orkester (1989–1994)

This band was formed in 1989 in Skara, Sweden. Lotta Engberg started it with her husband, Anders Engberg. The band became very popular. In 1993, they won a Grammis award. This award was for their album Kärlek gör mig tokig. The album reached number 33 on the Swedish music charts.

Lotta Engberg left the band around the end of 1993. She then started her own dansband. This happened after her divorce from Anders Engberg. The remaining members of the band formed a new group called Anders Engbergs.

Lotta Engbergs (1994–2002)

This dansband was formed by Lotta Engberg in 1994. It was also based in Skara, Sweden. When it first started, it was called Lotta Engbergs orkester. Later, the name was shortened to just Lotta Engbergs. The band played dansband music. Lotta Engbergs continued to perform until 2002, when the band stopped.

Kikki, Bettan & Lotta

Lotta Engberg was also part of a special music group. It was a "super trio" called Kikki, Bettan & Lotta. This group was active from 2001 to 2004. It included Lotta Engberg, Kikki Danielsson, and Elisabeth "Bettan" Andreassen. Kikki and Bettan are also very famous singers from Sweden and Norway.

Television Career

Besides singing, Lotta Engberg has had a successful career on TV.
