Louis Keith Collier, born on August 21, 1973, is a former American professional baseball player. He was a utility player, meaning he could play many different positions. Lou played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams. These included the Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies. He was also a first base coach for the United States national baseball team in 2023.
Playing Baseball Professionally
Lou Collier started his professional baseball journey in 1994. He was named the most valuable player of the South Atlantic League's all-star game. In that game, he helped his team win by getting three hits, including a home run.
He made it to the Major Leagues in 1997 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pirates for two years. After that, he joined the Milwaukee Brewers from 1999 to 2001. He also played for the Montreal Expos in 2002. In 2003, he was with the Boston Red Sox, and in 2004, he played for the Philadelphia Phillies.
In 1998, while with the Pirates, Lou had some of his best numbers. He played in 110 games. He also got 82 hits, scored 30 runs, and had 34 runs batted in (RBI). He also hit 13 doubles and 6 triples.
Over his 315 Major League games, Lou Collier had a batting average of .241. He hit eight home runs and had 78 RBI. After his time in MLB, he played for two seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization. He played for the LG Twins and the Hanwha Eagles.
In 2007, Lou Collier decided to retire from playing professional baseball. Later, in 2016, he became a scout for the Kansas City Royals. A scout helps find new talented players for a team.
