Louis Marquel Roe, born on July 14, 1972, is a former professional basketball player from America. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and also in Spain's top league, the Liga ACB. During his college years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), he was recognized as an All-American player.

College Basketball Journey
Lou Roe played college basketball for the UMass Minutemen team. He was a standout player during his time there. In 1995, he earned the title of Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He was also chosen as a second-team All-American, which means he was one of the best college players in the country.
Professional Basketball Career
Lou Roe was picked by the Detroit Pistons in the 1995 NBA draft. He was the 30th player chosen overall in the second round. He played for two seasons in the NBA. During this time, he was part of both the Detroit Pistons and the Golden State Warriors teams. He played in 66 games and scored a total of 130 points in his NBA career.
After his time in the NBA, Lou Roe continued his basketball journey overseas. He played professionally in several countries. These included Spain, Italy, South Korea, Mexico, and Argentina. He also played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) in the United States.
Highlights in Spain
Lou Roe had a very successful career playing in Spain. He was named the Spanish League MVP in 2001. This award goes to the best player in the league. He also led the Spanish League in scoring twice, in 2004 and 2006. This means he scored more points than any other player in those seasons. In 2004, he was also selected for the All-Liga ACB Team, recognizing him as one of the top players in the league.
Life After Playing Basketball
After retiring from playing, Lou Roe stayed involved with basketball. He worked with his old college team, the UMass men's basketball team. He helped out in an administrative role, supporting his former teammate and coach, Derek Kellogg. In January 2021, Lou Roe took on a new role. He became the head coach for the Putnam Vocational Technical Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Education
Lou Roe is currently a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is completing his undergraduate degree through a special program called University Without Walls. This program helps adults finish their college education.
