Lough Eidin, also called Drumharlow Lake or Lough Drumharlow, is a beautiful lake in Ireland. You can find it west of the town of Carrick-on-Shannon. This lake is part of the Boyle River, right before it joins the famous River Shannon.
Amazing Wildlife
Lough Eidin is home to many different types of fish. The most common ones you might find are roach, bream, brown trout, and rudd.
The edges of the lake have special wet grasslands called callows. These areas are very important for nature. Because of their value, they are being considered as a Natural Heritage Area. This means they would get special protection.
A special group of birds, called Greenland white-fronted geese, often come to feed in these callows. They are a unique type of goose.
Past Events
In 1895, a boat race, known as a regatta, was held on Lough Eidin. However, the race was not held again after that first time. The lake was found to be a bit too small for such an event.
