How the Louis Riel School Division Was Formed
The Louis Riel School Division was created in a few steps. It started in 1998 when two school groups, the Norwood and St. Boniface School Divisions, decided to join together. This was a voluntary choice.
Later, in 2001, the Minister of Education in Manitoba announced a plan. The goal was to reduce the number of school divisions across the province. In 2002, the St. Vital School Division officially merged with the St. Boniface group. This final merger created the new Louis Riel School Division as we know it today.
