Dame Louise Agnetha Lake-Tack was born on July 26, 1944. She is a former Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda. She made history as the first woman to hold this important position.

About Dame Louise Lake-Tack
Early Life and Education
Louise Lake-Tack was born in St. Philip Parish, Antigua in 1944. She went to Freetown Government School. Later, she attended Antigua Girls High School in St. John's.
After finishing school, she moved to the United Kingdom. There, she studied nursing at Charing Cross Hospital. She then worked as a nurse at the National Heart Hospital. She also worked at the Harley Street Clinic.
Career in Law
Later, Dame Louise decided to study law. She became a lawyer and then a magistrate. A magistrate is a judge who handles less serious court cases. She worked in courts like Marylebone and Horseferry Magistrate Courts. She also heard appeal cases at Pocock Street Crown Court and Middlesex Crown Court.
Before becoming Governor-General, she was a member of the Antigua and Barbuda National Association in London. She was part of this group for 24 years.
Personal Life
Dame Louise Lake-Tack is a widow. She has two children.
Role as Governor-General
Dame Louise Lake-Tack became the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda on July 17, 2007. This was a very important moment because she was the first woman to ever hold this role. The Governor-General is the representative of the King or Queen in a country.
She served in this role for about seven years. On August 14, 2014, Sir Rodney Williams took over as the new Governor-General.
Post-Governor-General Period
After leaving office, Dame Louise Lake-Tack had discussions about her pension. The government and her representatives worked to agree on the amount she would receive.
Awards and Honours
Dame Louise Lake-Tack has received several special honours. On October 16, 2007, she was made a Dame of the Venerable Order of St. John (DStJ).
Then, on November 13, 2007, she was given another high honour. She was appointed as a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (GCMG). These honours recognize her important service.
