About Louise Uwacu
Louise Uwacu was born in Kabgayi, Rwanda, in February 1977. She spent her early childhood and went to primary school in Kigali. In 1988, her family moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where she continued her high school studies at the French school, Lycée Denis Diderot. Her family had just moved back to Rwanda when, in 1994, a terrible war and genocide began. After this, she became a refugee.
Her Journey to Canada
In 1998, Louise arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and lived there for 10 years. She now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Louise studied political science at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Political science is the study of how governments work and how people make decisions in society. At her graduation in 2002, a speaker inspired her to "find out what you want to be before you take on the responsibilities of being that person."
Her Work and Goals
Louise hosts her own talk shows and writes for her website. She is a talented speaker and entertainer who can speak at least five languages. She is also a co-founder and leader of a Canadian non-profit organization called POSITIVISION. She plans to write more books and hopes to build more schools in Africa.
In January 2008, she produced and hosted a documentary called Positivision in Mali, which followed her travels to villages in Mali. Louise Uwacu has been mentioned in several publications, including The Guardian, Success for Women Magazine, and The Boston Herald.
Her Book: The nightmare of a POSITIVISION
Louise Uwacu's book, The nightmare of a POSITIVISION, tells the story of a person who has faced many difficult experiences, like the challenges of war and being separated from family. Despite these hardships, she still aims for a peaceful life. She hoped to find freedom when she arrived in Canada in 1998 as a refugee, at age 21, with only 30 dollars.
Finding Peace After Hardship
She found that living peacefully could be even harder than facing war. Louise Uwacu wants people to focus on real actions for peace, rather than just words. She reminds her readers that even though you might go through many challenges to reach your dream life, you can find comfort in this truth: with a POSITIVISION, success is always possible.
