Lourdes Mendoza del Solar (born January 7, 1958 – died October 4, 2024) was an important Peruvian politician and businesswoman. She was a member of the Peruvian Aprista Party.
She made history by becoming the first woman ever to be a Vice President of Peru. She was the Second Vice President alongside Alan García after the 2006 election.
Before becoming Vice President, Lourdes Mendoza was also elected to the Peruvian Congress. She represented the city of Arequipa. She also served as a city councilwoman in Arequipa starting in 2002. She continued to serve in Congress until 2011.
Lourdes Mendoza passed away on October 4, 2024, when she was 66 years old.

A Vice President is a high-ranking official in a country's government. They usually help the President and can take over if the President cannot do their job. In Peru, there can be more than one Vice President. Lourdes Mendoza was the Second Vice President.
