Love is a small, quiet place in La Paz County, Arizona, in the United States. It's not a big city or town, but rather what's called a "populated place" or "unincorporated area." This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. You can find Love about 5 miles (8 km) northeast of a town called Wenden. A railroad track, which used to be part of the Santa Fe Railway, still runs through Love. Today, the Arizona and California Railroad uses this track.

Discovering Love, Arizona

Love is a small community located in the desert landscape of Arizona. It sits along Urea Ranch Road. The area is known for its connection to the railroad, which has played a big part in its history.

How Love Got Its Name

Love wasn't always called Love. It was first known as Lockhart. After World War I, the railroad station was renamed to honor a brave soldier named Ernest A. Love. He died in France during the war. His father was a longtime engineer for the Santa Fe Railway, which made the renaming even more special. Another place, Ernest A. Love Field in Prescott, was also named in his honor.

The Train Derailment

In 1977, an event known as the "Love Derailment" happened here. A freight train traveling through the small community went off its tracks. This accident caused a tank car carrying butane to release its contents. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt in the incident.
