Lovington is a small village located in Moultrie County, Illinois, United States. In 2020, about 1,069 people lived there. The village was named after Andrew Love, who was the first postmaster in the area. Its motto is "A small town with a big heart."

Where is Lovington?
Lovington is found in the northern part of Moultrie County. A main road, Illinois Route 32, goes right through the village. This road connects Lovington to Sullivan, which is the county seat, about 9 miles south. It also goes northwest to La Place. Another road, Illinois Route 133, starts near Lovington and goes east to Arthur.
The village covers a total area of about 0.54 square miles (1.41 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

High School Life
Lovington High School closed its doors in 2012. The old school building, which had been there since 1909, was taken down. This happened because the school district joined with nearby towns, including Arthur. Now, students from Lovington attend the new high school called Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond (ALAH) High School. This new school serves students from several surrounding communities.
