In 2010, about 2,945 people lived in Lowesville. By 2020, the population had grown to 3,281 people.

History of Lowesville

Lowesville has some interesting history. One important place is a home called Mount Welcome.

Geography of Lowesville

Lowesville is located in the southeastern part of Lincoln County. It shares a border with Gaston County to the south.

Highways and Roads

A major road, North Carolina Highway 16, runs through the east side of Lowesville. This is a four-lane highway. It can take you about 24 miles northwest to Newton. Or, you can go about 17 miles southeast to the bigger city of Charlotte.

An older, two-lane road, NC-16 Business, runs through the middle of Lowesville. You can get onto the newer Highway 16 from North Carolina Highway 73 in the north. NC 73 also forms the northern edge of Lowesville. It goes east about 9 miles to Interstate 77 near Huntersville. If you go west on NC 73, you'll reach Lincolnton, which is the main town of Lincoln County, about 15 miles away.

Land and Water

Lowesville covers a total area of about 6.8 square miles (17.6 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.01 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.

Two creeks, Killian Creek and Johnson Creek, flow through or near Lowesville. Killian Creek is on the western side. Johnson Creek drains the eastern part of the community. All the water in Lowesville eventually flows into the Catawba River.
