Early Life and Learning
Lucy Verasamy was born in King's Lynn, a town in Norfolk, England. As a child, she went to Silfield Primary School. She also attended Framlingham College Junior School and King Edward VII School.
At King Edward VII School, she studied geography at a higher level. After school, she went to Brunel University. In 2001, she earned a degree in geography from there.
What Lucy Does
After finishing university, Lucy trained to become a meteorologist. A meteorologist is a scientist who studies the weather. She worked at the Press Association's weather centre. There, she wrote weather forecasts for TV, radio, and newspapers.
Starting at Sky News
Before becoming a full-time weather forecaster, Lucy had some work experience at the Sky Weather Centre. Later, she joined Sky News. She became the regular weather presenter for their morning show, Sunrise.
In 2007, Sky News started a special online feature. It was called Climate Clinic – Ask Lucy. As part of their Green Britain campaign, Lucy answered questions from the public about climate change. She also wrote for The Weather Girls blog on Sky News.
Moving to ITV
On 6 September 2010, Lucy joined a new morning show on ITV called Daybreak. She worked as a weather forecaster and also reported on environmental topics. She left Daybreak on 2 August 2012.
Since 2012, Lucy Verasamy has been presenting the national weather forecasts for ITV. This means she tells people across the country what the weather will be like.
Other TV Roles
From 2017, Lucy became part of the ITV Racing team. She uses her weather knowledge to help with horse racing events. She also started working as a relief weather presenter for Good Morning Britain in August 2017.
In 2019, she appeared in promotions for M&S Fresh Food Market. In March 2020, Lucy was set to co-present an ITV travel show. It was called How to Spend It Well on Holiday with Phillip Schofield. However, the show was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom.
In November 2020, Lucy started presenting a digital series for ITV. It was called Climate Crisis: Our Changing World. She presented it alongside other ITV weather presenters, Laura Tobin and Alex Beresford. In 2021, she also featured in advertising campaigns for Marks & Spencer's "Fresh Market Update."
