Luduș is a town in Transylvania, Romania. It's located in Mureș County, about 44 kilometers (27 miles) southwest of Târgu Mureș, which is the county's main city. In Hungarian, Luduș is called Marosludas or Ludas, and in German, it's known as Ludasch.
The town of Luduș also looks after six smaller villages. These are Avrămești, Cioarga, Ciurgău, Fundătura, Gheja, and Roșiori.

Early Mentions
The town was first mentioned in old documents way back in 1330. It appeared as "Plehanus de Ludas." Later, in 1377, it was part of a deal between two Hungarian noble families.
Becoming a Town
Luduș became an official town in 1960. Before that, it was a smaller settlement.
Population Changes Over Time
The number of people living in Luduș has changed a lot through the years:
- In 1930, about 5,085 people lived here.
- By 1966, the population had grown to 11,794.
- In 2002, it reached its highest recorded population with 17,497 people.
World War II and Its Impact
From 1940 to 1944, during World War II, the town was occupied by Hungarian forces. During this difficult time, the Jewish people living in Luduș faced terrible challenges, and many lost their lives in a tragic event in September 1944.
