Lulu, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Lulu, also known as Lula, is a small, quiet community located in Oregon County, within the beautiful U.S. state of Missouri. It's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own town government like a big city would.

Where is Lulu Located?

This little community is found near the edge of the famous Mark Twain National Forest. You can find it by following county road 160-129. Lulu is about one mile north of U.S. Route 160 and five miles east of a town called Alton. It's a peaceful spot surrounded by nature.

A Look at Lulu's History

Lulu has a short but interesting past. A post office was opened here in 1908. It was called "Lula" and helped people send and receive mail for a few years. However, the post office closed down in 1915.

The community itself was named after a person! It got its name from Lula Stairs, who was the wife of a local judge. This is how many small places in the United States got their names, often honoring important people from the area.
