Walter Lyle Bradley (born July 31, 1943 – died August 12, 2022) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He played as a centre. Walter played a few games in the National Hockey League (NHL). This is the top professional ice hockey league in North America. He played for the California Golden Seals and the Cleveland Barons. Most of his hockey career, from 1966 to 1978, was spent playing in different minor leagues. These are professional leagues just below the NHL. Before becoming a professional player, he played college hockey for three seasons at the University of Denver. Walter Bradley passed away in Salt Lake City on August 12, 2022, when he was 79 years old.

Walter Bradley's Hockey Journey

Walter Lyle Bradley was born on July 31, 1943, in Lloydminster, Canada. He started his hockey journey playing in junior leagues. He played for the Estevan Bruins in the SJHL from 1960 to 1963.

After his junior career, Walter went to college. He played for the University of Denver hockey team. He played there for three seasons, from 1963 to 1966. During his time in college, he showed great skill. He was even recognized for his talent in 1966.

Playing Professional Hockey

Walter Bradley turned professional in 1966. He spent most of his career in various minor leagues. These leagues included the IHL, the AHL, the CHL, and the WHL. He played for teams like the Des Moines Oak Leafs, Houston Apollos, Quebec Aces, Salt Lake Golden Eagles, and Denver Spurs.

Walter was known for being a strong player in these leagues. He often scored many points for his teams. For example, in the 1973–74 WHL season, he scored 115 points for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles. This was a combination of goals and assists.

His Time in the NHL

Even though he played mostly in minor leagues, Walter Bradley did get a chance to play in the NHL. He played four games for the California Golden Seals during the 1973–74 season. In one of those games, he even scored a goal!

A few years later, in the 1976–77 season, he played two more NHL games. This time, he played for the Cleveland Barons. In total, Walter Bradley played six games in the National Hockey League.

Awards and Recognition

Walter Bradley received an important award during his college hockey career.

  • In 1966, he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Second Team. This recognized him as one of the best players in the college championship tournament that year.
