The Museum Building's Story
The idea for the museum came from Thomas Philpot in 1901. He was related to the Philpot sisters. These sisters were also keen fossil collectors. They were good friends with Mary Anning. The museum building was finished in 1902. George Vialls was the architect who designed it. He also designed the nearby Town Hall.
