Lynn Novick is an American director and producer who makes documentary films. She is very well known for working with Ken Burns, another famous filmmaker.

Lynn Novick's Early Life
Lynn Novick was born in 1962. She grew up in New York City. She finished high school at Horace Mann School in 1979. Later, she graduated with high honors from Yale University. She studied American history and culture there.
Lynn Novick's Career in Film
Before making films, Novick worked as a research assistant. She was at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. She started her film career at WNET, a public TV station in Manhattan. She was a production assistant there.
Working with Bill Moyers
Novick then worked on projects for Bill Moyers. These included Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth and A World of Ideas with Bill Moyers.
Joining Florentine Films
In 1989, she joined Florentine Films. This is where she began working with Ken Burns. She was an associate producer for his 1990 series, The Civil War.
Award-Winning Documentaries
In 1994, Novick produced Burns's nine-part series called Baseball. She won an Emmy Award for this work. In 1998, she directed and produced a two-part film with Burns. It was about the architect Frank Lloyd Wright. For this, she received a Peabody Award. In 2001, Novick produced Burns’s 10-part series, Jazz.
Recent Projects
Novick has continued to work with Ken Burns on many projects. Some of these include:

Her next big project was an 18-hour documentary series. It was called The Vietnam War. She worked on it with Ken Burns and Geoffrey Ward. It was shown in September 2017. In 2019, her four-part series College Behind Bars was shown on PBS.
On April 5, 2021, a new documentary series debuted. It was about the life of writer Ernest Hemingway. This three-episode, six-hour series was co-produced and directed by Burns and Novick. It was shown on the Public Broadcasting System.
In April 2021, it was announced that Lynn Novick would join Meadowlark Media. She became a creative advisor there.
