Lívia Járóka was born on October 6, 1974, in Tata, Hungary. She is a Hungarian politician. She is well-known for being a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). This means she represents Hungary in the European Union's Parliament. She was first elected as an MEP in 2004. Lívia Járóka is also very important because she is the first Romani woman ever elected to the European Parliament. The Romani people are an ethnic group, and her election was a significant step for their representation in European politics.

Early Life and Education
Lívia Járóka grew up in Sopron, a town in Hungary. Her father is from the Romani ethnic group, and her mother is Hungarian. She studied sociology at the Central European University in Warsaw. She received a scholarship to help her with her studies.
After that, she went to study anthropology in Britain. She focused her research on Romani issues and their culture. In 2012, she completed her PhD in Social Anthropology at University College London.
Her Work in the European Parliament
Lívia Járóka served as a Member of the European Parliament for many years. She was first elected in 2004 and served until 2014. After a short break, she returned to the European Parliament on September 15, 2017.
She was elected as a Vice-President of the European Parliament on November 15, 2017. This is a very important leadership role. She was re-elected to this position on July 3, 2019. She served as Vice-President until January 17, 2022.
