High School Basketball Journey
M. J. Walker went to Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, Georgia. He first played American football, but after the summer of 2016, he decided to focus only on basketball.
During his sophomore year (2014–15), M. J. helped Jonesboro win the Georgia Class 4A state championship. His team had an amazing record of 32 wins and only 1 loss. In his junior year (2015–16), he led his team to another regional title and state championship. By his senior year (2016–17), he was a top player, scoring nearly 28 points per game.
Choosing a College Team
M. J. Walker was a highly sought-after player by many colleges. He was considered a "five-star recruit," which means he was one of the best young players in the country. Many big universities wanted him to play for them, including Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, UCLA, and Virginia Tech. In the end, M. J. chose to play college basketball for Florida State.
College Basketball Career
M. J. Walker played college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles. As a sophomore, he helped his team achieve a great record of 29 wins and 8 losses. They even made it to the "Sweet Sixteen" round of the NCAA Tournament.
In his junior year, M. J. was recognized for his skills and was named to the All-ACC Honorable Mention team. This means he was one of the top players in his conference. During his senior year, he continued to improve, averaging 12.2 points per game. He earned Second Team All-ACC honors, showing he was one of the best players in the Atlantic Coast Conference. After this season, he decided to enter the 2021 NBA draft to become a professional player.

After the 2021 NBA draft, M. J. Walker began his professional career.
Playing for Westchester Knicks (2021–2023)
In October 2021, M. J. joined the Westchester Knicks, a team in the NBA G League. He played well, averaging 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He later returned to the Westchester Knicks in January 2022 and again in October 2022.
Time with Phoenix Suns (2021–2022)
In December 2021, M. J. signed a short-term contract with the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. He played in two games for the Suns during that season.
Playing in Canada (2023)
In June 2023, M. J. signed with the Vancouver Bandits in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. He played nine games for them before moving to the Brampton Honey Badgers in July 2023 for their postseason games.
Playing in France (2023–2024)
In August 2023, M. J. Walker signed with Saint-Quentin, a professional basketball team in France's top league, LNB Pro A. He played there until 2024.
Joining Greensboro Swarm (2024)
In January 2024, M. J. joined the Greensboro Swarm, another team in the NBA G League.
Playing in New Zealand (2024)
In March 2024, M. J. signed with the Canterbury Rams in the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL) for their 2024 season. He helped his team become the NZNBL champions in 2024.
Back with Greensboro Swarm (2024–Present)
In October 2024, M. J. Walker rejoined the Greensboro Swarm. After a brief period, he was re-signed in November 2024 and continues to play for them.
National Team Experience
M. J. Walker has also represented his country in international basketball. He played for the United States national under-18 team in the 2016 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship held in Chile. His team performed very well and won the gold medal in the tournament.
Personal Life
M. J. Walker's parents are James and Jackie Walker. He has an older sister named Amoni. Basketball runs in his family! His father, James, played college basketball at Norfolk State University. His mother, Jackie, also played women's college basketball for Hampton University.
