MacGyver the Lizard (hatched July 4, 2012) is a red tegu lizard. He is also an Internet celebrity known for being smart, friendly, and having large cheeks called jowls. Many people say MacGyver is a "good ambassador of the giant lizard world" because he is calm and seems to show affection.
MacGyver's Story
MacGyver was born on July 4, 2012, at a lizard farm in Punta Gorda, Florida. He became famous online later that year. His first video, a collection of short clips, appeared on YouTube. It quickly received hundreds of thousands of views in just a few weeks.
Since he was only three weeks old, MacGyver has starred in many videos. In these videos, he often comes when his owners call his name. You can also see him eating his favorite foods, like salmon, eggs, cherries, and grapes. He is also often seen cuddling with his owners.
MacGyver's Fans
MacGyver's videos have been watched tens of millions of times across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Because of this, he has gained hundreds of thousands of followers on social media since 2012.
His fans have created a special fan art hashtag on Instagram. This hashtag features many artworks of the large red lizard. These include pencil drawings, watercolor paintings, and other creative works. In July 2016, fans even had a chance to meet MacGyver at the San Diego Reptile Supershow.
A special digital coin called $MAGAIBA was created in 2024, inspired by MacGyver. This coin uses the Solana blockchain. The name $MAGAIBA comes from how MacGyver's name was said in a popular video from 2017.
