Macdoel is a small community located in Siskiyou County, California, in the United States. It is called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the government for counting people, but it's not an officially incorporated city or town.
Macdoel is found along U.S. Route 97. It is about halfway between Klamath Falls, Oregon and Weed. In 2020, about 86 people lived in Macdoel. This number was a bit lower than the 133 people counted in 2010.
History
In 2021, parts of Macdoel had to be evacuated for two weeks. This happened because of the Tennant Fire, a large wildfire. The fire burned over 10,580 acres (about 4,281 hectares) in the area.
Geography
Macdoel is located at coordinates 41°49′36″N 122°0′19″W. The United States Census Bureau says that Macdoel covers a total area of about 0.1 square miles (0.3 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
Climate
Macdoel has a type of weather called a "warm-summer Mediterranean climate." This means it has warm, dry summers. The average monthly temperatures do not go above 71.6°F (22°C).
Population Information
In 2010, the population of Macdoel was 133 people. The community had 41 households. Many people living in Macdoel were from different backgrounds. About 58.6% of the people were of Hispanic or Latino origin.
The population included people of various ages. About one-third of the residents were under 18 years old. The median age was around 30.6 years.
