Maciej Kot (born on June 9, 1991) is a famous Polish ski jumper. He is part of the national team and has competed in the Winter Olympics in 2014 and 2018. Maciej is a World Champion from 2017. He also won a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championship in the team large hill event.

About Maciej Kot
Maciej Kot was born in Limanowa, Poland. He grew up in Zakopane, a town known for winter sports. His father, Rafał, used to be a physiotherapist for the Polish ski jumping team. Now, he is a ski jumping expert for Polish TV. Maciej's older brother, Jakub, also enjoys ski jumping.
Maciej studied at the University School of Physical Education in Krakow. He earned a master's degree in physical education. Maciej married Agnieszka Lewkowicz on May 18, 2019. She is a personal trainer and used to be an athlete herself. They met while studying at university. Did you know that Maciej's last name, Kot, means 'cat' in Polish?
Maciej's Ski Jumping Journey
Maciej Kot started his journey in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in December 2007. This was in Villach, Austria. He first earned points in the 2011/2012 World Cup season. On December 3, 2011, he finished 19th in Lillehammer. He scored points twelve times that winter. His best result was 12th place, which he achieved twice. This happened in Lahti on March 4 and in Oslo on March 11. He finished 35th overall in the World Cup that season. This was the third-best result among Polish jumpers. On March 15, 2012, he set his personal best jump of 200.5 meters in Planica.
First Podiums and World Championship Medal
On July 21, 2012, Maciej Kot achieved his first podium finish. This was during a Summer Grand Prix competition in Wisła, Poland. He shared the podium with famous jumpers like Simon Ammann and Wolfgang Loitzl. Later, on September 30, 2012, he won another Summer Grand Prix event in Hinzenbach. He finished ahead of Severin Freund and Taku Takeuchi. He ended the 2012 Summer Grand Prix season in fifth place overall.
On January 1, 2013, Maciej finished 5th in the New Year competition. This was part of the 61st Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He also placed in the top ten in the next two competitions.

At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013, Maciej finished 11th on the normal hill. He was 27th on the large hill. On March 2, 2013, he won a bronze medal in the team competition. His teammates were Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, and Piotr Żyła. This was a very exciting moment for the Polish team!
The 2012/2013 season was his best so far. He finished in the top 10 seven times. He ended the season in 18th place in the overall World Cup standings. At the end of the season, he also won the Polish championship in ski jumping.
Winning Gold and More Podiums
In the 2016 FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix, Maciej Kot was amazing. He won 5 out of 10 competitions. He wore the yellow bib, which means he was leading the overall season, and he won the entire Grand Prix!
On December 3, 2016, the Polish national team made history. The team, including Piotr Żyła, Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, and Maciej Kot, won their first-ever team competition for Poland. In Zakopane, the Polish team came in second place in another team event. On January 28, 2017, Poland won their second team competition in history in Willingen.
Maciej achieved his first individual victory in the 2016–17 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup on February 11, 2017. He tied for first place with Peter Prevc, both scoring 260.2 points. The next day, he finished fourth.
On March 4, 2017, the Polish national team made history again. The team, with Piotr Żyła, Dawid Kubacki, Maciej Kot, and Kamil Stoch, won their first-ever World Champion title in a team event. They beat Norway and Austria at Salpausselkä in Lahti, Finland.
Olympic Medal in 2018
On February 19, 2018, Maciej Kot and his teammates Stefan Hula, Dawid Kubacki, and Kamil Stoch won Poland's first medal in an Olympic team competition. They earned a bronze medal, finishing behind Norway and Germany.
