Severin Freund (born May 11, 1988) is a German former ski jumper. He is now a TV expert. He competed in the World Cup from 2008 to 2022. Severin is one of Germany's most successful ski jumpers. He won the overall World Cup title in 2015. He also achieved 22 individual World Cup victories. As part of the German national team, Freund won a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. He also became the 2015 World Champion in both the large hill and mixed team events.

Severin Freund's Ski Jumping Journey

Severin Freund started his professional ski jumping career in December 2004. He made his debut in the Continental Cup. His best result in this series was a win in Lillehammer in September 2008. He also won a gold medal with his team at the 2008 Junior World Ski Championships.

World Cup Debut and First Wins

Severin made his first appearance in the World Cup in December 2007. This was in Engelberg, Switzerland. Before the 2011 season, his best World Cup finish was 12th place. This happened in Sapporo in January 2010.

On December 29, 2010, he placed 6th in the first event of the Four Hills Tournament. This competition took place in Oberstdorf, Germany. Just a few weeks later, on January 15, 2011, he achieved his first ever World Cup victory. This exciting win happened in Sapporo, Japan.

In the same season, he earned his first world championship medal. He finished third with his team in the normal hill competition. This was at the World Championships in Oslo. He ended the 2011 World Cup season in seventh place overall.

Life After Competing: TV Expert

Since February 2023, Severin Freund has been working as a ski jumping expert for ZDF. This is a major German television channel. He shares his knowledge and experience with viewers.
