Oberstdorf is a beautiful municipality (which is like a town or small city) located in southwest Germany. It sits right in the middle of the amazing Allgäu Alps mountain range. Many people love to visit Oberstdorf for fun outdoor activities like walking, hiking, and skiing.
This town is special because it's one of the highest towns in all of Germany. It's also the very furthest south you can go in Germany! Oberstdorf is right next to the country of Austria, making it a great spot for exploring both countries.
Exploring Oberstdorf's Mountains
Oberstdorf is surrounded by several impressive mountains. These mountains offer incredible views of the area. Two of the most famous mountains are the Nebelhorn and the Fellhorn.
To help people reach the top of these tall mountains, there are many cable cars. These cable cars offer a fun ride and amazing views as you go up. Once at the top, you can enjoy the fresh air and stunning scenery.
Town Center and Ski Jumps
In the center of Oberstdorf, you'll find a large and beautiful church. It has a very tall spire that reaches high into the sky. The town center is a nice place to walk around and see the local shops and buildings.
Oberstdorf is also famous for its exciting ski jumping facilities. These huge ski jumps are used for many important competitions, where athletes fly through the air. You might even recognize them from the 2016 movie Eddie the Eagle, which featured these very jumps!
