Madeleine Madden is an Australian actress. She is well-known for playing Egwene al'Vere in the Amazon Prime series The Wheel of Time.

Early Life and Family

Madeleine Madden was born in 1996 or 1997 in Sydney, Australia. Her mother is Hetti Perkins, an art curator and writer. Her father was Lee Madden.

Madeleine grew up in a family that cared a lot about important social issues. Her great-grandmother was an elder named Hetty Perkins. Her grandfather, Charles Perkins, was a famous activist and soccer player. Her aunt, Rachel Perkins, is a director.

Madeleine has two older sisters and two younger half-sisters. One of her half-sisters is also an actress, Miah Madden. Madeleine's father passed away in 2003. She grew up in Redfern, a suburb in Sydney.

Acting Career

Madeleine Madden started acting at a young age. She has been in many TV shows and movies.

Early Achievements

In 2010, when Madeleine was 13, she made history. She became the first teenager in Australia to give a speech to the entire nation. Her two-minute speech was about the future of Indigenous Australians. It was shown on every free TV channel in Australia and watched by millions of people.

Television Roles

Madeleine has starred in several Australian TV shows. She was in Ready for This, which was Australia's first Aboriginal teen drama. She also appeared in the popular show Redfern Now.

Other TV shows she has been in include The Moodys, Jack Irish, and The Code. In 2016, she starred in the mini-series Tomorrow, When the War Began. This show was based on a series of popular young adult books by John Marsden.

In 2018, Madeleine played Marion Quade in Picnic at Hanging Rock. She was also Crystal Swan in Mystery Road and Immy DuPain in Pine Gap. Since 2019, she has been a main star in Amazon's The Wheel of Time. In this series, she plays the character Egwene al'Vere. The third season of The Wheel of Time aired in 2025.

Madeleine also lent her voice to the main character, Helena Walker, in Ark: The Animated Series. Helena is an Aboriginal Australian character and a paleontologist.

Madeleine has acted in short films by famous directors like Deborah Mailman. She also co-starred with Christina Ricci and Jack Thompson in the movie Around the Block. Her very first acting job in a film was when she was only 8 years old. Madeleine hopes to become a director herself one day.
