The Madlenianum Opera and Theatre is a special place for performances in Zemun, a part of Belgrade, Serbia. It was the very first privately owned opera and theatre company in both Serbia and Southeast Europe. It was started on January 26, 1999, by Madlena Zepter. She is the wife of Philip Zepter, a Serbian businessman. The theatre's name, Madlenianum, comes from Madlena Zepter's name.

History of Madlenianum
The Madlenianum is located in the Old City Core of Zemun. This area is considered a very important historical and cultural site in Serbia. The theatre hosts many different kinds of shows. These include opera, ballet, concerts, drama plays, and musicals.
How it Started
Madlenianum was officially opened on December 25, 1997. It was founded by Gordan Dragović Černogorski, an opera and ballet director. The building where it stands used to be the second stage of the National Theatre of Serbia.
Reconstruction and Reopening
The building went through a big change. It took seven years of hard work and five different stages of rebuilding. Finally, a completely new and improved theatre opened its doors. This grand reopening happened on April 19, 2005.
