Magnus Olai Beronius (born October 18, 1692 – died May 18, 1775) was an important leader in the Church of Sweden. He served as the Archbishop of Uppsala from 1764 until his death. The Archbishop of Uppsala is the highest leader in the Church of Sweden.

About Magnus Beronius
Magnus Beronius was born in Uppsala, Sweden. His father, Olaus Magni Beronis, was a vicar in Uppsala. A vicar is a type of priest in charge of a church parish. His mother was Catharina Celsia.
His Education and Early Career
Magnus Beronius studied at Uppsala University. He earned his master's degree in 1716. After finishing his studies, he became an associate professor in 1723. This means he was a teacher who also did research at the university.
In 1724, he was appointed as a lecturer in Gävle. A lecturer is someone who gives talks or lessons, often at a university. He then traveled around Europe. When he returned, he became a theology lecturer at Uppsala University in 1727. Theology is the study of religious faith and practice.
Later, he became a professor of poetry. Poetry is a type of writing that uses rhythm and often rhyme. After some time, he changed his focus and became a professor of theology.
Becoming a Bishop and Archbishop
In 1745, Magnus Beronius became the bishop of the Diocese of Kalmar. A bishop is a senior leader in the Christian church, overseeing a specific area called a diocese.
After Samuel Troilius passed away in 1764, Magnus Beronius was chosen to be the new Archbishop of Uppsala. This was a very important role in the Church of Sweden.
His Role in Politics
Besides his church duties, Magnus Beronius also took part in politics. He was a representative in the Swedish parliament, known as the Riksdag of the Estates. He attended the assemblies in 1765 and 1766.
In 1760, Magnus Beronius and his five children were given a special honor. They were "ennobled," which means they were given a noble title. Their family name was changed to Björnstjerna. Magnus Beronius passed away in Uppsala in 1775.
