Maine is a small village in Marathon County, Wisconsin, USA. It is part of the larger Wausau area. In 2010, about 2,337 people lived there. Some smaller communities, like Mount View and Taegesville, are also partly located within Maine.

History of Maine
Maine was first set up as a "town" in 1866. It was named after Uriah E. Maine. He was a sheriff and surveyor in the area during the early 1860s. In December 2015, the people of Maine voted to change its status. It officially became a "village" instead of a "town."

The United States Census Bureau says that the village covers about 109.8 square kilometers (42.4 square miles). Most of this area, about 108.7 square kilometers (41.9 square miles), is land. The rest, about 1.1 square kilometers (0.4 square miles), is water.
