Maiya Williams (born December 18, 1962) is a talented American writer. She creates stories for television and also writes exciting books for young readers. She is known for her work as an author, a television producer, and a screenwriter.
Growing Up and School
Maiya Williams was born in Corvallis, Oregon. Her dad, Carroll B. Williams, Jr., was a famous forester. Maiya grew up in two different places: New Haven, Connecticut, and Berkeley, California. She went to Berkeley High School. Later, she studied at Harvard College and graduated in 1984. While at Harvard, she made history as the first African-American officer of The Harvard Lampoon, a well-known humor magazine.
Her Amazing Career
Maiya Williams has had a busy career writing and producing many popular TV shows. You might know some of them! She helped create episodes for shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Rugrats, and Futurama. She also worked on Roc, Amen, The Wayans Bros., MAD TV, and The Haunted Hathaways.
Writing Books for Kids
In 2004, Maiya Williams wrote her very first book for children. It was called The Golden Hour. This book was a fun time-travel adventure set during the French Revolution. She wrote two more books that continued the "Hour" series. The Hour of the Cobra (2006) took readers to ancient Egypt. The Hour of the Outlaw (2007) was set in California during the 1800s.
She also wrote The Fizzy Whiz Kid: The Rise and Fall of a Hollywood Nobody in 2010. This book was a modern story about the ups and downs of being famous. Her most recent book, Middle School Cool, came out in 2014.
Her Life Today
Maiya Williams lives in Pacific Palisades, California. She shares her home with her husband, Patric M. Verrone, who is also a TV writer. They have three children and a dog.
