Makena is a beautiful community located on the southwest side of Maui, an island in Hawaii, United States. It's known for its stunning beaches and natural beauty.
In 2020, about 196 people lived in Makena. This was an increase from the 99 people who lived there in 2010. Before 2010, Makena was part of a larger area called Wailea-Makena.
Exploring Makena's Location
Makena is found on the southern part of Maui island. To its north is another town called Wailea. To the west, Makena is right next to the huge Pacific Ocean. You can only get to Makena by road from the north, using Makena Road.
The area of Makena covers about 29.9 square kilometers (about 11.5 square miles). Most of this area is land, but about 5.4 square kilometers (2.1 square miles) is water.
