Malden is a small, quiet place in Porter County, Indiana, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.

Even though Malden is small, it's famous for its big Labor Day parade. Many people come to watch it every year!

Malden's Past: A Brief History

Malden was officially planned out in 1909. This process is called "platting." It's like drawing a map for a new neighborhood. The community got its name from a place called Malden, Massachusetts.

For a few years, Malden even had its own post office. It was called Liberty View. This post office helped people send and receive mail from 1910 to 1913.

Exploring Malden Today

Malden is a small community with a few important spots. You can find a local bar called the Malden Oasis. There is also the New Hope Missionary Church.

Right across the street from the church is a large building called the Co-op. This is a grain elevator, used to store crops like corn or wheat. Between the bar and the church, there's a street with houses. You can also see an old school house from Highway Forty-Nine. It's a cool piece of history still standing!
