Mallard Lake is a freshwater lake located in the Hunter's Creek area of south Orange County, Florida. It's not a natural lake; people created it by digging out the land. This type of lake is called "manmade" or "dredged."

Before the lake was built, some of the land was swampy, and other parts were dry. Maps that show the shape of the land, called topographical maps, confirm this. Mallard Lake was created in the early 1990s. Its main purpose was to serve two new neighborhoods in Hunter's Creek.

About Mallard Lake's History

Mallard Lake was built to be part of two communities. These neighborhoods were developed around the same time the lake was made.

Mallard Cove Community

One community is called Mallard Cove. It sits on the west and southwest sides of the lake. Between 1992 and 1996, 182 homes were built in this area.

Falcon Pointe Community

The other community is Falcon Pointe. It is located on the northeast, east, and southeast sides of Mallard Lake. From 1991 to 1996, 165 homes were built in Falcon Pointe.

Mallard Lake's Location and Neighbors

Mallard Lake is easy to find in Hunter's Creek. It has another manmade lake right next to it.

Next to Lake Talova

Just north of Mallard Lake is another created lake called Lake Talova. A strip of land separates the two lakes, and a road called Talova Drive runs along it.

Close to Town Center Boulevard

A small part of Mallard Lake, called a cove, is on its south side. This area is right next to Town Center Boulevard. This road is a major street in the Hunter's Creek area.
