Malone is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Malone is located in Fond du Lac County. You can find it near the Sheboygan River and Mt. Calvary. It sits within parts of two towns: Marshfield and Taycheedah. Malone is also part of a special area in Wisconsin known as The Holyland. It has its own post office, which helps connect the community.
History of Malone
Malone has an interesting past, especially because of its connection to railroads. Long ago, it was a stop on the Sheboygan & Fond du Lac Railroad line. This made it an important place for travel and trade.
Originally, the community was known as St. John. However, it was later renamed Malone. This new name honored H. T. Malone, who was an important official with the railroad. The post office in Malone has been serving the community since 1877.
To learn more about the area's past, you can visit the Malone Area Heritage Museum. This museum shows what life was like in Malone during the 1800s and 1900s. It highlights the town's diverse culture and its history as a railroad hub. In 2005, the museum even moved the original train depot across the street. They then started working to restore it, bringing a piece of history back to life.
