Mandalay State Beach became a California state park in 1985. It covers about 92 acres of land. The main reason it was made a park was to let people visit the beach. It also helps protect the natural areas next to it. This beach is a very important home for some special birds. For example, Snowy plovers and least terns build their nests right on the sand here.
What You Can Do at the Beach
Mandalay State Beach is a great place for a day trip. It has about 2,920 feet of shoreline for you to enjoy. You can walk along the sand and enjoy the ocean views. There are no big buildings or shops right inside the park. However, you can find plenty of parking on the streets nearby. This makes it easy to get to the beach.
The beach is also a part of the California Coastal Trail. This is a long path that goes along the coast.
Exploring Nearby Areas
If you love walking on the beach, you can walk north from Mandalay State Beach. You will eventually reach McGrath State Beach. If you walk south, you will find Oxnard Beach Park.
You can also reach these parks by riding a bike. The Pacific Coast Bicycle Route runs along Harbor Boulevard. Mandalay Beach Road is also close to the beach. This road offers another way to explore the area. You can use public streets and bike paths to reach places further south. These include Channel Islands Harbor and the Channel Islands Beach neighborhood.
