Manderson-White Horse Creek is a special kind of community called a census-designated place (CDP) in South Dakota, United States. It's located in Oglala Lakota County. In the Lakota language, its name is oyúȟpe, which refers to a group of the Oglala people.
In 2020, about 554 people lived here. A famous Oglala Lakota warrior named Kicking Bear passed away in Manderson-White Horse Creek on May 28, 1904. He was known for fighting in important battles, including the Battle of the Greasy Grass. His nephew, Felix Flying Hawk, also had a ranch nearby.
The exact reason for the name "Manderson" is not fully known.
