Manhattan Beach is a small, quiet community located in Tillamook County, Oregon. It is an "unincorporated community." This means it does not have its own local government, unlike a city.
This community is found about one mile north of Rockaway Beach. It is right along U.S. Route 101, a major highway. The beautiful Manhattan Beach State Recreation Site is also very close by.
A Bit of History
Manhattan Beach has an interesting past. A railroad company, called the Pacific Railway and Navigation Company, built a train station here. This station was named Manhattan Beach and opened in 1912.
Later, the community also had its own post office. This post office served the area for many years. It opened in 1914 and continued to operate until 1975.
