History of Horace Mann School

The school first opened its doors in 1955. It was originally known as Horace Mann High School. Later, it became Horace Mann Junior High School.

In 1958, a United States court made an important decision. The court said that Horace Mann High School was equal to schools for white students. This was a step towards fairness in education.

In 2004, the school building was updated and made new. A company called Interior Design Associates won an award for their excellent work on the school's renovation.
