Manton's History
Manton got its own post office in 1889. People say the town's name comes from "Man's Town." This is because many of the first people who settled there were men.
In August 2005, a large forest fire swept through Manton. The fire sadly destroyed several homes. Everyone in the town had to leave for safety. Luckily, no one was hurt during the fire.

Manton is located at 40°25′8″N 121°51′49″W / 40.41889°N 121.86361°W. It covers an area of about 17.7 square miles (45.9 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water.
