History of Manypeaks

How Manypeaks Started

The area where Manypeaks is located began to be developed in 1949. This was part of a big plan by the government of Western Australia. The plan was called the Many Peaks Land Settlement project. Its goal was to create new farming areas.

Where the Name Comes From

The town got its name from a unique mountain nearby. This mountain is called Mount Manypeaks. It has a very distinct shape with many peaks. The mountain is only about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the town. In 1951, Manypeaks officially became a town. This means its boundaries were set by the government.
