Exploring Manzano Peak
Manzano Peak stands tall at 10,098 feet (3,078 meters) above sea level. It is the highest point in the Manzano Mountains. This impressive mountain is about 7 miles (11 kilometers) southwest of the town of Manzano. It is also about 18 miles (29 kilometers) east-southeast of Belen.
The peak is part of the Manzano Wilderness Area. This area is a protected part of the Cibola National Forest. Manzano Peak looks very impressive from the west. It rises about 3,900 feet (1,189 meters) in just 3 miles (5 kilometers).
Views from the Top
The very top of Manzano Peak is below the tree line. This means there are still trees growing near the summit. However, the peak offers amazing views. You can see far to the east, south, and west. It's a great spot to enjoy the natural beauty of New Mexico.
Getting to the Top
You can reach Manzano Peak by following a hiking path. One way to get there is by using Trail Number 80, also known as the Kayser Trail. This trail starts on the east side of the mountain range. The Kayser Trail connects to the Crest Trail, which is Trail Number 170. From the Crest Trail, you can hike to the summit of Manzano Peak. It is a popular hike for people who enjoy the outdoors.
