Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart is an American animated TV show. It was created by Parker Simmons for Cartoon Network. The show first aired on July 1, 2019. It is made by Cartoon Network Studios and Titmouse, Inc.. The idea for the show came from a short video called I Love You Mao Mao. Parker Simmons made this video in 2014. The series was so popular that it was renewed for a second season on July 23, 2020.

Story of Mao Mao

Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart is about a brave cat named Mao Mao. He dreams of being a legendary hero. On one of his adventures, he and his friend Badgerclops get stuck. They land in a super cute town called Pure Heart Valley.

Badgerclops is a badger with a cool cyborg arm. In Pure Heart Valley, they meet a small, adorable bat named Adorabat. Together, these three friends become the protectors of the valley. They go on many adventures to keep the citizens safe from bad guys. They also try to fix the Ruby Pure Heart, which protects the valley.

The Hero Trio

  • Mao Mao (voiced by Parker Simmons): He is a brave, sometimes strict, cat. He wants to be a great hero. He helps the people of Pure Heart Valley. A younger Mao Mao is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard.
  • Badgerclops (voiced by Griffith Kimmins): He is a sassy badger with a robotic arm and an eyepatch. He is Mao Mao's loyal partner and co-hero.
  • Adorabat (voiced by Lika Leong): She is a cute, blue, five-year-old bat. She has a yellow heart symbol and a peg leg. She is very eager to join Mao Mao and Badgerclops on their adventures.

  • King Snugglemagne the 25th (voiced by Parker Simmons): He is the lion king of Pure Heart Valley. He can be a bit full of himself.

  • Great-Great Paternal Grandfather Twig (voiced by Griffith Kimmins): Mao Mao's grandfather, who was a sumo warrior.
  • Great-Great Aunt Blackbeard (voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard): Mao Mao's aunt, who was a pirate warrior.

  • Tanya Keys (voiced by Ming-Na Wen): A tanuki bounty hunter and Mao Mao's former friend. She likes to tease him and wants him to be more carefree. She can change her shape.
  • Meditatin' Melvin (voiced by Dana Snyder): A meditating monkey who can make his spirit leave his body.
  • Eugene (voiced by Randall Park): Adorabat's father. He worries about Adorabat's safety because her mother died from a Cave Dragon attack.
  • Sonara: Adorabat's mother, who passed away before the series began.

Sky Pirates

  • Orangusnake (voiced by Christopher McCulloch): An orangutan-snake pirate captain. He wants to steal the Ruby Pure Heart. He is actually two criminals, Coby (the snake) and Tanner (the orangutan), who combined to become a supervillain.
  • Ramaraffe (voiced by Debra Wilson): A female cybernetic giraffe pirate. She can stretch her neck and is good at making plans.
  • Boss Hosstrich (voiced by McCulloch): A cybernetic ostrich pirate with a southern accent. He can shoot eggs from a cannon on his chest.
  • Ratarang (voiced by Parker Simmons): A small rat pirate who can turn into a boomerang.
  • Beef Master: A large water buffalo with a bone necklace.
  • Thunder Fist: A gorilla who can create electricity.
  • Steel Wing (voiced by Tommy Blacha): A wyvern with metal wings.

Thicket Thieves

  • Tiny Toad (voiced by Mark Sheppard): The leader, a cyborg frog with a monocle and a British accent.

Pilots (2014–16)

The show started with two pilot episodes. The first was called "I Love You Mao Mao" and was a short teaser. The second, "I Love You Mao Mao "BAO BAO's Revenge"", was a longer pilot that later inspired an episode in the first season.

Season 1 (2019–20)

Season 1 of Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart aired from July 1, 2019, to July 17, 2020. It has 40 episodes. Each episode is about 11 minutes long. The episodes show Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat facing different challenges. They learn about friendship, bravery, and what it truly means to be a hero. They often fight the Sky Pirates and other villains who try to harm Pure Heart Valley.

Where to Watch

Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart first aired on Cartoon Network in the United States on July 1, 2019. It also premiered on the same day in India on Cartoon Network HD+. The series came to Cartoon Network Canada on July 13, 2019, and later to Teletoon on September 6, 2019. It premiered in France on January 4, 2020, and in Italy on January 6, 2020. The show also debuted on Cartoon Network UK on March 2, 2020, and in Japan in April 2020.
