Maple Beach is a small, special kind of community. It's an unincorporated community located in Bristol Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a town. Instead, it's part of a larger township.
Maple Beach is right next to the Delaware River. It's also found near where the Burlington-Bristol Bridge connects Pennsylvania to New Jersey.
History of Maple Beach
For a long time, Maple Beach was a residential area with homes. But in 1917, a company called Rohm and Haas bought many of these homes. They did this because they wanted to expand their industrial activities in the area. This meant the land was used more for factories and businesses than for houses.
Over the years, most of the homes were removed. By 2013, only four houses were left in Maple Beach.
Who Owns the Land Now?
As of June 13, 2020, large signs were put up at the north entrance of Maple Beach. These signs clearly state that the land is private property. It is now owned by the Dow Chemical Company. The signs also remind people that they should not enter the land without permission.
