María González Veracruz (born July 11, 1979) is a Spanish politician from Murcia. She has held important roles in the Spanish government and the Socialist Party (PSOE). She is known for her work in science, technology, and youth affairs.

Early Life and Education

María González Veracruz was born in Murcia, Spain. She studied biochemistry at the University of Murcia. Biochemistry is a science that looks at the chemical processes happening inside living things. She also gained research experience in Molecular Genetics in Leipzig, Germany. This field studies how genes work and how they pass on traits.

Starting in Politics

María González Veracruz began her political journey early. She joined the Young Socialists, which is the youth branch of the Socialist Party (PSOE). She was the Secretary General of the Young Socialists from 2003 to 2009. This means she was a main leader for young people in the party.

In 2008, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who was the leader of the PSOE and Prime Minister of Spain, chose her for a key role. She became a secretary in the PSOE Federal Executive. This is a top group that helps run the party across the country.
