María Isabel López Rodríguez (born January 4, 1995), known as María Isabel, is a singer from Spain. She became famous after winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 for Spain. Her winning song was "Antes muerta que sencilla".

Biography
María Isabel was born in Ayamonte, Spain, on January 4, 1995. From a very young age, she loved dancing and singing.
Junior Eurovision Victory
In 2004, María Isabel entered a TV show called Eurojunior 2004. This show chose Spain's song and singer for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. She sang two songs: "Antes muerta que sencilla" and "Mira niño".
"Antes muerta que sencilla" won the competition. This meant María Isabel would represent Spain at Junior Eurovision. On November 2, 2004, she released her first album, ¡No me toques las palmas que me conozco!. "Antes muerta que sencilla" was the first song from this album.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest happened on November 20, 2004, in Norway. María Isabel performed her song fifteenth. She won the contest with 171 points! This was a record for the highest score at the time. She was also the youngest winner ever, at just nine years old.
Life After Junior Eurovision
After her big win, "Antes Muerta que Sencilla" became a huge hit in Spain. It also became popular in Latin America. María Isabel's album was released there in 2005.
She started her first tour in Latin America and the United States. Her song was number one in countries like Argentina, Colombia, and Puerto Rico. In April 2005, she was interviewed on American TV for the first time.
María Isabel continued going to school. But on weekends and holidays, she traveled around Spain. She gave concerts and interviews. She often performed at Tivoli World amusement park in Benalmádena.
Her second album, Número 2, came out on October 2, 2005. It included songs like "Pues va a ser que no" and "En mi jardín". These songs were also part of the Spanish soundtrack for the Barbie movie Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus.
Her third album, Capricornio, was released in 2006. It included a DVD with her music videos. Her fourth album, Ángeles S.A., was the soundtrack for a movie she starred in.
From 2009 to 2010, she hosted a children's TV show called Los Lunnis. In November 2009, she released her fifth album, Los Lunnis con María Isabel. It had songs from the show and two new songs.
Career as an Adult
After finishing her studies, María Isabel returned to music in 2015. This was eleven years after her first album. She released her sixth album, Yo Decido.
On December 29, 2015, she was chosen as one of six singers to try and represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. She sang a song called "La vida sólo es una". This was the first song from her album Yo Decido. She finished in 4th place.
On July 5, 2019, María Isabel released a new song called "Tu mirada". In April 2024, there were talks about her being a guest or host for the Junior Eurovision contest. This would celebrate 20 years since her big win in 2004.

María Isabel is engaged to Jesús Marchena. They have a daughter named Daliana, who was born on February 14, 2023.
