María Emma de las Mercedes Adam de Aróstegui (born September 24, 1873 – died October 20, 1957) was a talented Cuban musician. She was a skilled pianist and a composer. She spent most of her life living and working in Spain.

María was born in Camagüey, Cuba. When she was nine years old, her family moved to Spain. She became a well-known artist whose music was played in different countries.

Early Life and Education

María began her music studies in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She learned from a teacher named Joaquin Zuazagoitia. Later, she continued her studies at the Conservatorio Real in Madrid. This was a very important music school.

She also traveled to Paris, France, to learn from famous musicians. Her teachers there included Louis Diemer and Jules Massenet. She also studied with Vincent d'Indy. These teachers helped her become a very skilled pianist and composer.

Her Musical Career

After finishing her education, María de las Mercedes Adam de Aróstegui started her career. She worked as both a composer and a pianist. She performed concerts with famous musicians, including the cellist Pablo Casals.

Her beautiful music was played in many places. People enjoyed her compositions in Paris, France, and also back in her home country of Cuba. She continued to create and perform music throughout her life. María passed away in Madrid, Spain.
