The Marajó Archipelago (which means archipelago of Marajó in Portuguese) is the biggest group of islands in the world that are found where a river meets the ocean. It's located in Brazil, in the states of Amapá and Pará. This amazing area has about 2,500 islands!

The main island in this group is called Marajó Island. It's huge, covering about 42,000 square kilometers. Because of its size, it's known as the largest coastal island in Brazil. Marajó Island stretches from the mouth of the Amazon River all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. It sits between the Equator and 1.55 degrees south of the Equator, and between 47 and 53 degrees west longitude.

The Marajó Archipelago is surrounded by water. To the north, you'll find the Atlantic Ocean. To the east is the Marajó Bay. To the south, there's a complex area where the Pará River flows into the sea. And to the west, you'll find the huge delta of the Amazon River.
