Marc Fortier (born February 26, 1966) is a former professional ice hockey player from Canada. He played as a centre, which is a key attacking position in hockey. Marc played for several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL). These teams included the Quebec Nordiques, Ottawa Senators, and Los Angeles Kings.
Marc Fortier's Early Life and Junior Hockey Career
Marc Fortier grew up in Windsor, Quebec. When he was young, he loved playing hockey. In 1978, he even played in the famous Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He was part of a minor ice hockey team from his hometown, Windsor.
Fortier then spent four years playing in the QMJHL. He played for a team called the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. In his final season with them, he scored an amazing 201 points. This was a record for the team and showed how talented he was!
Playing in the NHL and Europe
After his time in junior hockey, Marc Fortier played in the NHL. He also played in other leagues like the AHL and IHL. He played a total of 212 regular season games in the NHL. During these games, he scored 42 goals and earned 102 points.
From 1994 to 2005, Fortier moved to Europe to continue his hockey career. He played in Germany's top league, the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. He also played in Switzerland, in leagues called Nationalliga A and Nationalliga B.
After Playing: Coaching and Management
After retiring as a player, Marc Fortier stayed involved in hockey. He became a coach and a general manager. He worked for the Saint-Georges CRS Express team in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey.
Fortier also worked as a scout for the Colorado Avalanche. A scout helps find new talented players for a team. In 2010, he became the recruitment director for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. From 2011 to 2014, he was the general manager for his old junior team, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
