Playing Football in College
Marcell Young started his college football journey at Hinds Community College. He played there for two years, from 2006 to 2007. After that, he moved to Jackson State University in 2008.
At Jackson State, he joined the Jackson State Tigers team. He played for them for two years. In his first year, he got a lot of playing time. This happened because another player, Jeremy Pierce, got injured. Over his two years at Jackson State, Marcell Young made 48 tackles. He also had two interceptions, which means he caught the ball from the other team.

Starting with the New Orleans Saints
In 2010, Marcell Young began his professional career. He signed with the New Orleans Saints. This team is part of the National Football League. He joined them as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the main player draft. However, he was released by the Saints before the regular season began.
Playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
In 2011, Young joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This team plays in the Canadian Football League. In his first year with the Tiger-Cats, he played in all 18 games. He made 51 tackles, showing he was a strong player.
