Marcelo Fabián Sosa Farías, born on June 2, 1978, is a former football player from Uruguay. He played as a defensive midfielder, which means he helped protect his team's goal. People often called him "Pato," which is Spanish for "duck." Marcelo played football professionally for teams in five different countries during his career.

Club Football Journey
Starting in Uruguay: Danubio FC
Marcelo Sosa was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He began his football career at a club called Danubio FC. He played there for many seasons, becoming a very important player for the team.
Playing in Europe: Russia and Spain
In January 2004, Marcelo moved to FC Spartak Moscow in Russia. He signed a four-year contract with them. However, he only stayed for six months. Later that year, he moved to Atlético Madrid in Spain. He joined them for free and signed a three-year deal with the La Liga club.
During the 2004–05 season, Marcelo played in 28 league games for Atlético Madrid. After that, he was loaned to another Spanish team, CA Osasuna. He did not play much for Osasuna during their successful 2005–06 season. He also played in two games in the UEFA Cup for them.
Returning to South America
After his time in Spain, Marcelo was loaned to Club Atlético River Plate in Argentina in January 2007. Later that year, he joined Club Nacional de Football, a team in his hometown of Montevideo. He joined them for free, even though he still had a contract with Atlético Madrid.
On January 7, 2008, Marcelo Sosa was officially introduced as a player for Tecos UAG in Mexico. In the summer of 2009, when he was 31 years old, Marcelo returned to Uruguay. He signed with a big team there called C.A. Peñarol. In February 2011, he joined another Uruguayan team, Racing Club de Montevideo, on a six-month contract. He later returned to his first club, Danubio FC, before ending his playing career.
International Career for Uruguay
Marcelo Sosa also played for his country, the Uruguay national football team. His first game for Uruguay was in 2003. He represented Uruguay in the 2004 Copa América, which is a big football tournament for South American countries. Marcelo played in every match during that tournament, helping Uruguay finish in third place.
